Teaching History:

I have been teaching for a very long time.  My mother was a second grade teacher; reading books to her students was my first experience working with children.  School has always seemed like a second home to me.

I found my passion for teaching at university.  For two years, I worked for the office of Academic English.  I tutored international graduate students, helping them correct their pronunciation and prepare for the TOEFL examination.  In my junior year, I interned for the Orange County Museum of Art Education Department.  I prepared and led tours of the museum, helped lead in our classroom.  For two years, I also volunteered for OCMA's monthly Second Sunday program, where we opened the museum to our community.

My entire academic career, I felt the need to give back to my community.  I worked on numerous student-initiated outreach programs, and served on the university student funding committee.  My peers and I recognized a real need to house our student programs, funding committee, and retention programs under one roof.  I helped write a proposal and lobby for this center.  Four years later, the SOAR Center became a reality, employing full-time staff members and interns.

In 2013-2014, I went back to school for Early Childhood Education.  I student taught for an experimental early years program and a public preschool.  I earned my Master Teacher Early Years permit, and intend to apply for an Administrative license.

I have taught first grade in Kuwait and am currently teaching kindergarten in China.  I am so thankful to my career as an educator as it has given me the chance to travel, see the world, and meet some really amazing people!
